serve

"We are saved through Christ alone, by faith alone, but not by a faith which remains alone. True salvation always results in good works and a changed life."

Tim Keller

At Calvary Burlington we believe that collectively and in community we are on a mission to know God and make Him known. God uses our diverse gifts and talents to reach people with the gospel and to help others "take a step to the right."

Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer?

Some areas of service are open to everyone, but others might require a formal application. The best way to find out how you can volunteer is to reach out and let us know that you're interested so we can talk with you about what serving looks like for that particular area of ministry.

How do I volunteer with frontline ministry?

Frontline Ministry (FLM) is the area of ministry for ushers, greeters and welcome centre personnel –– all the people who serve on the frontlines of welcoming guests and ensuring the service flows well. FLM is open to anyone who wants to serve; yearly training is provided.

How do I volunteer with worship?

To volunteer with the worship or tech team, contact Jolene Sanders. There's a short application to fill out where Jo can discover a bit of your background and you can describe how you'd like to get involved. Students, teens and adults are welcome to apply and start serving with the worship and tech team.

How do I volunteer with kids and students?

Volunteers in our Kids and Student ministries help to teach fundamental truth about God, sin, forgiveness, and how to live out our faith. These roles require an application, a police check (with vulnerable sector screening) and yearly training in Best Practices for Child Protection.
Mike Sanders can give you more information about how to apply.

How do I volunteer for special events and outreaches?

Special events happen throughout the year and the Special Events Team  ("SET") for Calvary is a group of people who are  use their skills (whatever they are) to build the kingdom, regardless of the specific ministry area. It functions like a master list of amazing people who want to serve in rotation for various ministries and events. You'll serve in rotation with others  for upcoming special events at Calvary. You will use your gifts to  serve God collectively and in community with others in the church family.

How do I volunteer with facilities?

The facilities team uses their gifts to keep the church building maintained and the facilities up-to-date. This team meets periodically to do a walk-thru of the building, and makes recommendations for repairs and maintenance . You don't have to be a church member, and no special skills are required. Just a willingness to get involved and serve alongside of others.
