At Calvary Burlington we believe that each person has an important role to play, and there’s a place for everyone to serve.  Below you will find broad categories for various roles for serving at Calvary Burlington. Frontline Ministry (Greeters)
Be a calm and welcoming presence on Sunday mornings. Our Frontline Ministry team helps create a smooth and supportive experience during the service—whether it's greeting with a smile, helping someone find a seat, or quietly making sure everything runs well behind the scenes.
If you're dependable, observant, and enjoy creating a space where people feel cared for and at ease, this might be a great fit for you.

  • Greeting and guiding people as they enter
  • Helping with seating and flow
  • Helping to connect new people and make them feel welcome.

Commitment: Sunday morning, approximately once a month on a rotating team
Coffee Crew
Use your gifts, time, and warmth to help create a welcoming space for connection and conversation. Serving coffee may seem simple, but it plays a meaningful role in helping people feel seen, valued, and at home in our church.

If you enjoy serving others, making people feel welcome, or creating inviting spaces, we’d love to have you on the team! Training is provided—just bring a smile and a willingness to help.

Commitment: Sunday morning in rotation (before and after the service) once every 3-6 weeks.
Welcome Centre
Be a friendly and reliable point of contact on Sunday mornings. The Welcome Centre is where guests can ask questions, learn what’s happening at Calvary, and take their first step toward getting connected.

You don’t need to have all the answers—just a helpful attitude and a willingness to point people in the right direction. It’s a simple but meaningful way to help people feel seen, supported, and part of the church family.

  • Welcoming guests and regular attenders
  • Sharing information or connecting people with the right person
  • Supporting the flow of the morning in the lobby

Commitment: Occasional, based on the rotation schedule
Prayer Team
Join us Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am as we pray for our church, our community, and the needs shared with us. Whether you pray out loud or silently, your presence matters.

There’s no formal commitment—just come when you’re able. This is a meaningful way to care for others and seek God together.

Commitment: No sign-up or schedule—just show up when you can.
Special Events Team
Looking for a way to serve God and connect with others in the church family? Join the Special Events Team ("SET") at Calvary! You'll volunteer to work in a variety of ways and use your gifts collectively and in community to serve.

This is a hands-on ministry that uses people who want to be actively involved.

  • Baking and cooking for meals for shut-ins
  • Hospitality at funerals
  • Outdoor clean-up around the property
  • Event set-up and/or Decor
  • Take photos at church events
Commitment: Occasional based on the needs of the church
Nursery Ministry
Help create a safe and caring space for our youngest attenders—and give parents the chance to fully participate in the worship service. Serving in the nursery is a valuable ministry to families, offering support, peace of mind, and a loving environment for little ones.

If you enjoy caring for babies, creating a calm and nurturing atmosphere, and showing God’s love through gentle care, this is a beautiful way to serve.

  • Caring for infants and toddlers (newborn–23 months)
  • Providing a clean, safe, and welcoming space
  • Offering comfort and calm during drop-off and pick-up

Commitment: Sunday morning rotation during the service
KidsChurch
Help kids discover who Jesus is in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate environment. KidsChurch happens Sunday mornings during the service and is designed to help children learn the Bible and understand what it means to follow Jesus.
Whether you love teaching, leading songs, helping with crafts, or just being a friendly helper, there’s a place for you on the team. Every role makes a difference in helping kids grow in faith.

  • Teaching Bible lessons in a fun and interactive way
  • Assisting with crafts, games, music, and classroom support
  • Serving as part of a team that loves kids and loves Jesus

Commitment: Sunday morning, once every 4–6 weeks
Midweek Student Ministry
Invest in the next generation by building relationships and pointing students to Jesus. Student Ministry is more than just games and snacks (though we love those too!)—it’s about helping students feel safe, seen, and spiritually supported as they navigate life and faith.

As a leader or helper, you’ll create space for students to explore who God is, learn spiritual habits, and grow in community with one another. You don’t need all the answers—just a heart to show up, listen well, and live out your faith in real ways.

  • Welcoming students and building relational trust
  • Leading or supporting small groups, teaching, or activities
  • Modelling faith through everyday conversation and consistency

Commitment: Weekly; plus special events
Parents Night Out Leaders & Helpers
Be part of a team that helps kids have a great time—and gives parents a much-needed break. Parents’ Night Out is an occasional ministry that serves families in our church and community. It’s a fun, high-energy evening filled with games, crafts, snacks, and meaningful interactions.

Whether you're leading a group, helping with activities, or serving snacks, every role helps kids feel safe, valued, and welcomed.

Commitment: Occasional, based on event schedule
Seniors Lunches
We create a welcoming space for seniors in our church and community to come together and share a meal. Through fellowship  we strive to create an environment where seniors can find comfort, support, and inspiration. We believe that in coming together, we can strengthen our faith and build a strong sense of community, rooted in the love of Jesus.

  • Set-up and light prep prior to the lunch
  • Dishes and tear-down after the lunch
Commitment: Once a month September –June
Musicians & Singers
Help lead the church in worship through music that honours God and encourages others to engage. Musicians and vocalists on the worship team use their skills to create a space where people can focus on who God is and respond in praise.

This role calls for musical proficiency, spiritual attentiveness, and a team mindset. Team members are asked to practise on their own, come prepared, and participate in midweek run-throughs to serve the church with excellence.

  • Playing an instrument or singing with confidence and skill
  • Modelling worship for the congregation
  • Attending rehearsals and being spiritually prepared to lead

Commitment: 1–3 times per month, scheduled in advance
Livestream & Video Team
Support the worship service behind the scenes by helping project lyrics and stream the service online. The Livestream & Video Team plays a key role in making sure everything runs smoothly for both in-person and online attenders.

Attention to detail is important, and a sense of musical timing is a bonus—especially when it comes to switching lyrics and cues during worship. Training is provided, and once you're comfortable, you'll serve as part of a monthly rotation.
  • Running lyric projection and livestream software
  • Supporting the worship team and pastors during the service
  • Helping create a distraction-free, accessible worship experience
Commitment: Sundays, 8:30–11:30 am, once per month

Sound Mixing
Help shape the sound of Sunday worship by mixing audio for both the room and the livestream. The Sound Team ensures that what’s heard is clear, balanced, and supports—not distracts from—what’s happening up front.

A good ear and musical awareness are key, but you don’t need to be a pro. If you’re willing to learn and pay attention to detail, we’ll train you to serve with confidence.

  • Mixing live audio for vocals, instruments, and speaking
  • Balancing sound for in-person and online listeners
  • Working closely with the worship and livestream teams

Commitment: Sundays, 8:30–11:30 am, once per month
Maintenance & Facilities
Use your gifts, talents and time to help take care of our church property. Your skills are needed and are a blessing as they care for our church property allowing for everyone to enjoy and to honour God.

Snow Removal
Help keep Calvary safe and accessible during the winter months. While the main lot is ploughed professionally, we rely on volunteers to clear walkways, entrances, and the ramp before Sunday services or weekday events.

If you're comfortable with a shovel and don’t mind an early start on snowy days, this is a practical and appreciated way to serve.

How do I volunteer?

Some areas of service are open to everyone, but others might require a formal application. The best way to find out how you can volunteer is to reach out and let us know that you're interested so we can talk with you about what serving looks like for that particular area of ministry.
