The Gift of Daily Provision

Because Christ has come, we have received the gift of daily provision. Another way to say this is, “Because of Christ, I have everything I need for today.”

When physical resources like food and shelter are hard to come by, we can become anxious about how we’ll find the basic necessities. We might start to hoard items, or be overly consumed with the thought of what we need to acquire. In times of high stress, it can be difficult to remember that we have everything we need without sounding weird or overly spiritual. “No food for me – I have the love of the Lord to fill me!” “I don’t have to worry that my bank account is empty – the Lord will make sure I have a place to live next month!” It can sound weird and downright irresponsible. And did we mention it sounds weird?

So what can we do?

We ask God to keep our eyes focused on what we have rather than what we don’t have. What we need instead of what we want.

In this way it will foster a spirit of thankfulness and a divine dependence on God provision for you.

What a gift!
