The Gift of Strength

It is so easy to put the emphasis on the wrong part of this verse, namely “I can do all things…” Scripture was written down by mortals and is a gift to all of us, but it’s not our story, it’s God’s story. So while you might be tempted to adopt this verse as proof of your ability to conquer anything life throws your way, the correct emphasis is on the “…through Christ who strengthens me.”

We don’t possess strength because of Christ. We possess it through Christ, and He will strengthen us for whatever He calls us to do and however He calls us to live. Going through hardship? God knows. He gives strength. Going through a season of abundance? God knows and He gives strength.

No matter what your season or lot in life, God gives us the strength through Christ to persevere and have victory. What a gift to celebrate this Christmas season!
