The Gift of Precious Promises

Today we discover another gift given to us on the basis of God’s character or nature. God’s promises are an all-encompassing gift to believers that are given because of His glory and excellence. The promises God has made are based on the fact that He is glorious and He is good. What God has promised is exceedingly magnificent and of the utmost worth because He Himself is magnificent and of the utmost worth.

One of the 25 gifts of Christmas is the totality (the entirety... the whole kit and kaboodle!) of the precious promises God has made in His Word to us who believe. Eternal life, complete forgiveness now and for eternity, a new heart and a new spirit, rest, peace, grace, mercy… plus so many more. We have received them all and will continue to do so for now and forevermore. Amen. What a gift!
