The gift of New Birth
In John 3, Nicodemus speaks to Jesus about eternal life, and Jesus tells him that only those who are born again will see the kingdom of God. The Bible is clear that salvation is God’s gift to us, and as such we know there is nothing we can do to earn it. In 1 Peter 1:3 we read that new birth makes a way for us to have the living hope we possess.
A living hope means we don’t long for the “one day” of being whisked away from this wicked world and rescued from our doldrums. Instead we have a hope that is alive and vibrant because we are new creations today.
As we celebrate these 25 gifts that we have already received because we are in Christ, remember to thank God for the gift of new birth and the joy of living hope!
