The Gift of Wisdom

James 1:5 says that if we need wisdom we can ask God for it, and God will provide it. So if it’s a promise for the future, how can this be a gift we have already received in Christ? I’m glad you asked! Central to this verse is our understanding of God’s character – if God says it will be done, it is as good as already done.

Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” So when God promises gifts like wisdom, you know He has already fulfilled it. What an amazing gift!
