CB Kids October 9

Welcome to our new series, Hear Me Roar! We’re going to spend some time over the next few weeks at the Babylon Zoo, where we’ll meet some courageous . . . and some not so courageous . . . creatures! This week we learned that I’m not alone — God is with me!

Ask your child: Would you rather be an animal that travels and works in a group or would you rather be on your own?  What’s your favorite activity to do when you’re alone? What’s your favorite thing to do with your friends?

Have some fun: If you were going to hang out with your favourite animal, what would you need to do? Be a good swimmer, run really fast, learn to fly? If you were going to make a home for your favourite animal, what would you need to prepare? A big pool, a cave, a cage? Would you be scared to hang out with your favourite animal, or would it be okay?

Read these passages from the Bible: Daniel 3; 2 Timothy 2:8-15

Talk about it: Do you remember our guest from last week, Daniel, and his friends who were brought from Jerusalem to Babylon? Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego!  They did not bow down to the gold statue.  How do you think they felt when they were told they would be thrown into the fiery furnace? What helped them to be brave when they faced the flames? Is there a time when were alone but you felt God was with you?

Pray about it: God, thank you that I’m not alone. Even when I feel like there’s no one to help me, I trust you are there. Thank you for my friends and family who remind me of your love. Help me be there to support and help others in the way you’ve helped me. Thank you for making impossible things possible. Amen.

Learn the memory verse: “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” (Nahum 1:7)

Watch the videos for this week:
Recap: Daniel’s friends were placed in a hot furnace because they worshipped God instead of the king. God was with them and protected them. God is with us too! We are probably not afraid of being tossed into a hot furnace, but there are lots of scary things that we go through. But from today's lesson you can say with confidence: I’m not alone — God is with me!
