CB Kids July 17–23
This month our CB Kids are learning about all the big things God was able to do through Elisha and can do through us, too!. This week we learned that we can count on God's promises!
Ask your child: What's your favourite colour? Can you find two things of that colour in your home? In your neighbourhood?
Have some fun: Make a snack plate using all the colours of the rainbow. Talk with them about ROYGBIV and how this word can help them remember the colours of the rainbow in their order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet).
Read these passages from the Bible:
II Kings 4:8-37; Genesis 18:1-10a
Talk about it: Elisha is invited to stay in the home of a man and a woman. They really wanted children but hadn't been able to have any, so they were sad. Elisha told them that they would have a son the following year, and that God always keeps His promises. Years later their cherished son died, and the parents were again very sad. Elisha was used by God to bring the boy back to life. God did a miracle!
Pray together: God, thank you that you love me and that you have good plans for me. You make promises that you keep. Remind me that I can count on your promises and that you will always do what you say you will. Amen.
Learn the memory verse: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2 (NIV) Click here for the ASL video for this Bible verse.
Recap: God keeps His promises, even the ones that seem like they’re too big, too far away, or too late. The Bible talks about the rainbow being a symbol of God's care and protection, and a reminder that He always keeps His promises!
