CB Kids April 10-16

This week, kids remember the time when Jesus entered Jerusalem.

Ask your child:
  • How do you describe 'royalty'?
  • What does it mean to be someone who is a royal?
  • How does a royal person act? What are some of the things they would say or do?

Have some fun:
  • Talk about a simple rule in your home, ie "no toys at the table."
  • Ask your child what rules they would put into place if they were in charge of the household.
  • Work together to come up with two serious rules and two silly ones, then act them out in the coming week.

Read these passages from the Bible:
  • Luke 19:28-40;  Jeremiah 23:5-6; Zechariah 14:9

Talk about it:
  • What animal did Jesus ride?
  • How did the people react to Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem?
  • What are some of the ways we  celebrate someone important coming into town today?
  • Read the Old Testament passages again. How do they describe this king?
  • In what ways is Jesus the king the people expected? In what ways was he different?

Pray together:
Dear God, thank you for being the king of everything. Even though you are the most powerful, you have always shown love to your people. Help us to love and serve as you did. Amen

Learn the memory verse:
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  (2 Peter 3:18a)

Recap:

Jesus was not the king the people expected. They thought Jesus would take over the city and make everything perfect and right and good.

Jesus is the King over everything, and he didn't just come to Jerusalem for those people back then, but he came for all people at all times.

See you next week for another "Did you know?" lesson!
